upcycled mixed media
‘Sunny after rain’ is an amalgamation of various layers of craft techniques and image-based components in three-dimensional forms. The work has been constructed with a DIY aesthetic and spirit during the three months residency.
I attempt to maximize tactile, immediate, and handmade process, by altering objects and upcycling industrial materials through collecting and resourcing mediums in the NDG area. Familiar components, like plastic toys, egg cartons, and wool yarns transform into an unfamiliar dreamlike landscape. This artistic practice helps me to encapsulate a spirit of innocence while allowing myself to stretch the philosophical limits of craft.
